July's 2003 weather for Seattle brought very warm temperatures, dry skies, and a lot of sunshine after a warm, sunny, and dry June. There were twenty-two days in July with sunny sky conditions, eight days with partly cloudy sky conditions, and one day with cloudy sky conditions.

Precipitation for the month was way below normal at 0.06 inches compared to the normal 0.79 inches. This was the fourth-driest July on record --- the last time Seattle saw a July as dry as this was in 1967 when only 0.01 inches of precipitation fell. There were only three days in July that had precipitation --- two days with measurable precipitation (July 13 and 14) and one day with a trace of precipitation (July 12).

Temperatures for the month averaged 2.6 degrees above normal --- the mean average temperature was 67.9 degrees compared to the normal 65.3 degrees. This was the fifth-hottest July on record --- the last time Seattle saw a July as hot as this was in 1994 when temperatures averaged 67.9 degrees. The average daily high was 3.7 degrees above normal at 79.0 degrees compared to the normal 75.3 degrees. There were twelve days in July that reached a temperature of 80 degrees or higher. The warmest days were July 29 and 30 when the temperatures reached a high of 93 and 92 degrees respectively; the coolest day was July 3 when the temperature reached a low of 50 degrees. A record high minimum temperature of 63 degrees was set on July 30 breaking the previous record of 62 degress set in 2000.

The daily average wind speed for the month was 6.8 mph. The maximum wind peak gust was 24 mph from the northwest on July 27.
